September 2026 Update
Hey and welcome to my first update on this new site!
I’m going to use this space to mention all the things I’m currently working on, so here we go.
New Website Build in Process
I’ve been terribly remiss in creating a decent-looking website for Stratelex, which at this point is both my fledgling game business and my personal portfolio site. I have a new template here and things to share, so this will be a bit of a priority for the next couple of months. My hope is to get some games up, plus writing samples. I am eager to get more work in the game writing industry, so this will be (I hope) useful in applying for and soliciting work.
Iron Crown Enterprises Projects
For the past six months, I have been working hard on two projects for the venerable tabletop role-playing game company, Iron Crown Enterprises. The first, which I pitched to their Director last year, is a reboot of their cyberpunk game Cyberspace. Cyberspace first came out in 1989 and hasn’t had anything published for it since 1992. So it’s a golden oldie. What I’m doing is updating it as a setting for Iron Crown’s HARP SF game system. This new work is called Cyberspace Reloaded. In the process, I am basically adapting the rules and for a dystopian vision of Earth in 2500. It’s been a lot of work, but super-cool, and I expect to be finished by the end of the year.
In the process of writing Cyberspace Reloaded, I devoted a ton of time to learning the HARP SF game system and primary setting. In the process, I wrote an adventure module called The Ashes of Admah. It’s an adventure centered around an archeological expedition to a newly discovered planet. Of course, what could go wrong? Once I finished the draft, I sent it off to Iron Crown and they accepted it for publication. It’s currently with their editors now. Not sure when it will be published, but I’m excited about it.
Fatal Vector and Other Stratelex Work
My most-advanced “house” sci-fi TTRPG, Fatal Vector, has been sitting on a shelf because of all the Iron Crown work I’ve been doing, which is necessary at this time. I’ve also had to spend time on finding paying work, which has been slow-going. However, Fatal Vector is pretty far along. All of the artwork is completed, thanks to the brilliant Daniel Flasjz, and it’s been playtested several times. All that remains to do is to the rewrite and lay it all out for publication. But that’s still a lot of work for me. I expect to finish it once I have the Cyberspace Reloaded draft off to Iron Crown. Shooting for release in the spring of 2027. You can read a bit about Fatal Vector on the home page of this site.
I have a few other games in various stages of completion. But more on those later.
Other Game and Writing Stuff
I’ve been busy also with other things, including studying for a Creative Writing certificate and serving as a Teaching Assistant for a Video Game Narrative Writing class at Paradise Valley Community College. I already have a BA in English with a concentration in Creative Writing, but it’s been years since undergraduate studies for me. I also have two master’s degrees, but this certificate is my effort to get going again as a writer after the last 30 years of raising kids and doing corporate work. It’s been very helpful in that regard.
Finally, I continue to work on a fantasy novel, entitled The Burden Stone, here and there as I can. Once I have it further along, I think I’ll start sharing it on this site for free. And start another one.
That’s it for now. Back to work!
